The richness of the exhibition, and the diversity and quality of the pieces represented, contribute to the success of the Muséum du Coquillage in Les Sables-d’Olonne. Through 230 display cases, discover over 45,000 exotic shells in extraordinary shapes and shimmering colors: fossils, mother-of-pearl, giant clams, cones, nautiluses, volutes and also seahorses, starfish, sea urchins, sponges and corals plunge visitors into a fairytale world.

A family’s passion for mechanics and automobiles has enabled the Musée Automobile de Vendée in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire to bring together an incredible collection of over 200 vehicles: automobiles, cycles, motorcycles and horse-drawn vehicles. Some 45 makes are represented, from the steam-powered “De Dion” of 1885 to futuristic prototypes.

Holy Cross Abbey Museum

Housed in the former priory of the Benedictine nuns Sainte-Croix in Les Sables-d’Olonne, the Musée de l’Abbaye de Sainte Croix presents collections of modern and contemporary art, ethnology and archaeology in over 2,500 m² of white rooms and inverted ship’s hulls. Two main artists are represented: Gaston CHAISSAC, a rustic modern painter, and Victor BRAUNER, a painter close to the Surrealists.
Temporary exhibitions of national and international quality bring the museum to life.
